The Bundeschampionat for riding horses, held under the new format, is now history. What is the FN’s assessment? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out.

Yesterday, we published our personal impressions of the new format for the National Riding Horse and Riding Pony Championships, as well as insights into the general mood. We also asked the FN (German Equestrian Federation) and Pferdesport Deutschland for their assessment. They are currently in the evaluation phase.

A statement reads as follows:

We are currently taking a close look at the competition formats for riding horses in this year’s pilot project. Our goal was to specifically examine how the National Championships can be further improved in the interests of the horses, transparency, and the sport’s integrity.

We plan to survey the stakeholders involved about their experiences. In doing so, we will take into account the perspectives of breeders, owners, riders, judges, event organizers, and breeding associations, as well as insights from comparable championship formats. We have already identified specific points that we would like to discuss in greater depth and further develop. These include both organizational processes and issues related to the design of the competitions.

At the same time, we have had positive experiences in several areas, which we are now evaluating alongside the findings—some of which are critical. The goal here is not to continue a new format unchanged, but rather to develop the best possible solution for the future of riding horse competitions at the National Championships based on the insights gained. The upcoming analysis will determine what specific adjustments—if any—will result from this for the coming year.

We will provide information on the key findings and the resulting conclusions in a press release in the near future.
