Well, who's that poking his nose out of his new box in Offenhausen? A Lower Saxony horse has moved into the Main and State Stud, who is known worldwide thanks to his offspring.

The Oldenburg stallion Floriscount is now available to breeders via the Marbach Main and State Stud. This means that a celebrity stallion has moved into his box in Offenhausen. The Florencio son out of Arkona by Donnerhall-Walldorf I-Tin Rocco-Vollkorn xx not only combines some of the best dressage lines in the world in his pedigree, he has also proven himself in sport and has long since shown with his offspring that he also passes on his qualities.

Floriscount’s own contribution

Floriscount’s career began with his performance test, which he completed as the best dressage stallion (147.49 points) and second overall. The test riders both awarded him the highest score of 10.0 and the judges gave him another 10 for canter.

With Oliver Oelrich in the saddle, Floriscount came second in the final of the Nuremberg Burg Pokal in 2014 and went on to win the winner’s prize, the freestyle competition for the best three. With Patricia Seddig in the saddle, the daughter of breeders Count Clemens and Countess Andrea von Merveldt, he then matured into a Grand Prix horse before being retired from the sport in 2018 to devote himself entirely to breeding.

Floriscount’s inheritance

The fact that Floriscount is not a result of chance breeding is proven by the fact that he still has a full brother successful at Grand Prix level under the Canadian flag, and that a half-brother by Bordeaux is competing for the USA in the big arena.

At the age of 21, Floriscount himself has nine Grand Prix horses among his offspring. All in all, more than 500 offspring are successful in sport – including advanced (S) level show jumping. In addition, there are 20 state premium mares and 30 licensed sons, many of whom are also successful in the dressage ring up to advanced level.

In the FN breeding value assessment for show jumping, Floriscount has been among the top ten percent of sires in Germany for years – and now also his sons such as Floris Prince and Finnigan. He is even in the top five percent of young horses and in the top quarter of the highest class achieved.

Floriscount not only has a direct influence on international dressage horse breeding, but also over generations, for example via Ferguson in the Netherlands.
