In future, both the Oldenburg Elite Show and the championships, including the qualifications for the Bundeschampionat for the horses of the Oldenburg associations OL and OS, will no longer take place in Rastede, but in Höven.

This was announced today by the Oldenburg Verband on its homepage. Instead of the Renn- und Reitverein Rastede, the Reiterverein Höven e.V. will host one of the highlights in the calendar from June 30 to July 5.

The sporting program then includes the riding, dressage and show jumping horse championships as well as the Bundeschampionat selection and the HLP evaluation test for four to six-year-old riding horse stallions. There is also the Bundeschampionat inspection for ponies.

The breeding highlight will be the elite mare show of the Oldenburg associations with the traditional brilliant ring.

Anyone looking for new blood can take a look at the planned foal auction, where around 20 representatives of the 2026 crop are to find new owners.

Background

The move from Rastede to Höven was suggested at the delegates’ meeting of the Oldenburg associations. President Dr. Wolfgang Schulze-Schleppinghoff explained to EQUI PAGES that the change was a reaction to the general conditions in Rastede. There had been many points of criticism last year, such as prices that were too high for breeders or the arena for the Bundeschampionat qualification of young stallions right next to an event for children.

“That wouldn’t have been a problem if we had the impression that something could be changed,” says Dr. Schulze-Schleppinghoff. “But radical changes were not to be expected.”

“Ideal framework conditions”

So the consequences were drawn. The Oldenburg associations are very positive about the cooperation with the riding club. “The compact facilities and infrastructure in Höven offer ideal conditions for further developing the championships and breeding events in the interests of horses, riders and breeders,” the website states.
