DSP Championships in Darmstadt: 9.06 for the defending champion

Photo: HLG Neustadt/Dosse Foundation The DSP Championship for three-year-old fillies and geldings was a neck-and-neck race. In the end, Van Philippo PS came out on top. The gelding by Va’ Pensiero earned a final score of 8.38, placing him four hundredths of a point ahead of the second-place filly, Selina Rose. Van Philippo PS, presented by Lisa Volpp, scored particularly well in the trot (9.0). His walk and conformation were each rated 8.3, and his rideability was rated 8.5. His canter score of 7.8 fell slightly short of these marks.
The scores for the runners-up showed a consistent pattern: the Baden-Württemberg mare Selina Rose by Secret received an 8.4 for her trot, an 8.3 for her canter, and an 8.0 for her walk. Rideability and conformation were each rated 8.5. The mare was presented by Anna-Lisa Schepper.
Third place went to another offspring of Va’Pensiero. The Württemberg mare Vaiana, ridden by Christina Winkler, scored an 8.08, with her rideability—rated 8.6—earning the highest score of the entire competition in that category.
Quaterback Produces Champion Among Three-Year-Old Stallions
Among the three-year-old stallions, the DSP Champion hails from Brandenburg-Anhalt. Québec, a chestnut stallion by Quaterback, presented by Leslie Rohrbacher, clearly stood out from the field with a final score of 8.42. The Brandenburg-bred stallion received two 8.6s—one for rideability and one for conformation. In the canter, he earned an 8.8, the highest score among his basic gaits, while his walk received a 7.6, the lowest. His trot earned him an 8.5 from the judges.
Second place went to Felicius from Baden-Württemberg, who was ridden by Jacob Reglauer. His final score of 8.1 was broken down as follows: trot: 8.0, canter: 8.2, walk: 7.6, rideability: 8.3, and conformation: 8.4.
Boccacio’s at it again—and how!
DSP Boccacio, now five years old, successfully defended his title from last year with Stephanie Fiedler. The stallion, owned by the Neustadt/Dosse State Stud, is a son of Belantis II. He was the only horse on that day of competition to win a class with a score higher than 9.0. To be precise, the black horse received a score of 9.06. His trot and walk were each rated 9.0, his canter 9.3, his responsiveness 8.8, and his overall impression even earned a 9.2.
The second-best horse from the German Sport Horse (DSP) breeding program was the stallion Jamie, who was born in Saxony-Thuringia. The son of Jameson was presented by Nicola Haugk. He received a score of 8.12, with his trot and canter each rated at 8.3, his walk at 8.0, his responsiveness at 7.5, and his overall impression at 8.5.
DSP Youngster Championship
Even eight- or nine-year-old dressage horses were able to compete for a sash—that of the DSP Youngster Champion. Secret Sensation, an eight-year-old gelding by Secret bred in Saxony-Thuringia, won a Prix St. Georges Special with a score of 69.35 percent. And with that, he also claimed this title, much to the delight of his rider, Carina Harnisch.
Show Jumping Horses
Second place in a qualifying round for the National Championship for five-year-old show jumpers was enough for the Brandenburg-Anhalt gelding Variant by Varihoka du Temple to win the title in the five-year-old show jumper division. Nina Hagemeier rode the gelding for the Neustadt an der Dosse State Stud. He received a score of 8.4. Third in the class, and thus second in the DSP Championship: Elliot D, a stallion born in Baden-Württemberg and descended from Emerald van het Ruytershof. Riden by Daniel Dassler, he scored an 8.0 and thereby qualified for the National Championship.
Six-year-olds
Two horses from Baden-Württemberg took the top spots on the podium in the six-year-old show jumping class: with a score of 8.6, the gray mare FBW Clintina B, ridden by Anne Götter, was declared the winner. Second place in this championship went to Marracudo FBW, a Württemberg stallion sired by the Belgian Million Dollar. He scored an 8.5 and was ridden by Pia-Luise Baur. Third place went to Cellebration by Cornetino. He was born at the Neustadt an der Dosse State Stud and is still owned by the stud. Lena Hagemeier rode the bay horse, which received a score of 8.3.
