These horses will represent the Danish Warmblood at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses
Denmark’s Hope for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses
Mette Sejbjerg Martinez (then still Jensen) and Straight Horse Leonardo, a son of Lord Europe, won bronze in the five-year-old class at Verden in 2025, while the rider rode the KWPN stallion Proud James to the title; the horse was not included in the KWPN’s list under his new rider and owner, Annabella Pidgley.
Photo: Archive Sportfotos-lafrentz.de Nine five-year-olds competed for a spot on the Danish Warmblood Breeders’ Association’s team for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. Four of them made the cut.
Among them is the 2024 Danish Breeders’ Association Champion, Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy by Hesselhøj Down Town-Sir Donnerhall I, bred and owned by Agnete Holmsted. The mare will be presented by Joachim Thomsen. When Miss Malfoy became Danish Champion of the Four-Year-Olds last year with a score of 91.714 percent, Anders Sjøbeck Hoeck was still in the saddle; he is currently involved in a legal dispute with the association over an incident during a mare performance test.
Another mare that received the Breeders’ Association’s Gold Medal in 2024 and is now competing in Verden is Chantal by Revolution-Hertug, ridden by Merita Hagren. Chantal was bred by Jane and Erik Bech Jensen and is owned by Von Rosing Horses & Helgstrand Dressage ApS.
Another horse receiving early acclaim is Hamilton Jazzmaster, by Jameson RS2-Dante Weltino, presented by Katrine Kraglund and bred and owned by Hamilton Horse AB. Last year, he won a class for four-year-olds at the Falsterbo Horse Show.
Last but not least, Rahmoz Langholt by Straight Horse Ramses-Blue Hors Don Schufro, ridden by Michael Grønne Christensen, made it to Verden. The breeders are Bente Graasbøll and Ole Magnus Jensen, and the owner is Stutteri Teglovnen ApS.
Reservists
Two reservists were named in the five-year-old class: first, Goomong Recioto by Revolution-Blue Hors Zack, ridden by Camilla Lærke Stubberup (breeder: Kathrine Holm Juliussen, owner: Helgstrand Dressage), and the other Svalegård’s Be-Live by Bon Coeur out of Tailormade Temptation, ridden by Maja Raabjerg Sørensen on behalf of the breeders and owners from Stutteri Svalegaard, Else Marie and Jens Chr. Krabbe.
Six-year-olds
Among the six-year-olds, some horses are already familiar with the Verden course from last year. As a result, Selina Solberg Vittinghus and the licensed stallion Atterupgaards Bernachi were able to qualify again following their appearance in last year’s final—even though Selina had broken several ribs, her shoulder, and her collarbone in a riding accident in early June. That was the reason she did not present her second qualified horse at the final selection—the mare Atterupgaards Daimi, who wowed the crowd in Verden last year.
Here is an overview of the qualifiers:
- Betina Jæger and Faustino G. by Blue Hors Farrell-Sezuan (breeder and owner: Stutteri G. v. Helene Geervliet), who placed fourth at the World Championships last year
- Selina Solberg Vittinghus, riding Atterupgaards Bernachi by Bon Courage out of Caprimond, bred and owned by Atterupgaard Stud >, placed tenth in last year’s final
- Mette Sejbjerg Martinez with the 2025 bronze medalist, Straight Horse Leonardo by Lord Europe-De Niro (Breeder: Straight Horse ApS, Owner: Straight Horse ApS & Helgstrand Dressage)
- Merita Hagren with Dizzy by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy-Blue Hors Zack, who was once awarded the Silver Medal by the Breeders’ Association; bred by Hesselhoej.dk ApS and owned by Helgstrand Dressage ApS.
Reservists
The reservists were, on the one hand, Lipas Alva by Bon Coeur-Aljano, ridden by Carina Nevermann Torup (breeder: Lipas Horses, owned by Paul Jacobsen; owner: Rikke Marie Schobye Johansen) and, secondly, Atterupgaards Kernikov by Kremlin MD-Fürst Wilhelm (breeder: Stutteri Atterupgaard, owner: Alexandra Hartmann Dahlerup) with Rune Willum Hansen were named as reserves.
Seven-year-old
In the seven-year-old division, one of the highlights is a return appearance by last year’s silver medalist, Brandtbjerg’s Divya. Last year, the mare was ridden by Anders Sjøbeck Hoeck. Now she’s competing with her new 19-year-old rider and owner, Theresa Rosenkilde. Here’s an overview:
- Nordstrand’s Quinoa by Quater Hit-Blue Hors Hertug, ridden by Alexander Yde Helgstrand (Breeder: Gitte Nordstrand Larsen, Trainer: Sarah Pidgley)
- Atterupgaards Fibonacci by Franklin-Franziskus (Breeder: Stutteri Atterupgaard, Trainer: Obel Dressage Academy) with Sophia Boje Obel Jørgensen
- Brandtbjerg’s Divya by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy-Blue Hors Don Olymbrio, ridden by Theresa Rosenkilde (Breeder: Brandtbjerggaard, owned by the Buhl family; Trainer: Maibritt Rosenkilde)
- Fleurissima’s Fleur Royale II by Feinrich-Diamond Hit, ridden by Susanne Barnow (breeder: Johanna Charlotte Botved, owner: Susanne Oldenborg)
Reservists
One of the two reserve horses is the full brother of the former three-time world champion Fiontini—as you can tell from his name; he’s called Fiontino and is ridden by Alvaro Conesa for owner Helgstrand Dressage ApS. As with Fiontini and her sister Fiontina—who won silver at the time—the breeder is Henrik Hansen of HH Horses. The second reserve also comes from the Helgstrand stable: Vancouver S DWB by Vitalis-Blue Hors Romanov (breeders: Sally-Ann and Flemming Schultz), ridden by Eric Guardia Martinez.
