Four weeks ago he competed in Wellington, tonight he presented himself at the stallion show at Zangersheide Stud: Faltic HB by Ben Maher.

At least in the 2026 breeding season, the 16-year-old KWPN stallion Faltic HB will be available to breeders via Studfarm Zangersheide. He shares the stallion stable here with greats such as Tobago Z, Balou du Reventon, Dieu Merci van’t T&L and of course his World Championship colleague from Herning, Christian Ahlmann’s Dominator Z.

Career

Faltic HB is a son of Baltic VDL and therefore a half-brother to Martin Fuchs’ Aachen, Geneva and Spruce Meadows winner Leone Jei. The dam Beloma B by Concorde-Nimmerdor is a sister to several internationally successful show jumpers.

Faltic HB was bred by the British rider Mackenzie Ray and the Irish rider Roger McCrea. He had already jumped 1.60 courses with Eoin Gallagher, also under the Irish flag, before Ben Maher took over the stallion in the fall of 2021.

At the end of 2021, they placed in the World Cup show jumping competition in London. A few months later, they were nominated for the British World Championship team in Herning, where they won bronze with the team and came fourth in the individual competition.

In 2023, they were lined up for the European Championships in Milan. The bay demonstrated his class with numerous other five-star successes.

Career scaled back

In 2025, Faltic HB only competed in three international competitions, was third in the World Cup show jumping competition in Washington and also competed in London – but had several knockdowns in two competitions.

In mid-January, Maher rode the stallion again at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, but gave up in a 1.40 jumping competition and had an uncharacteristic three knockdowns in a 1.55 meter class.

This was his last show appearance. While his rider is still in Florida, Faltic HB started his journey home and was presented this evening in Sentower Park at the Zangersheide Stud’s stallion show.

Inheritance

Faltic HB has hardly been covered so far. The oldest of the 18 offspring listed on horsetelex.nl were born in 2018 and some of them jump at 1.45 meter level.

Faltic HB’s hereditary power is also secured through his dam’s side. He represents the widely branched Dutch Loma line, which has produced a large number of licensed stallions and successful sport horses up to 1.60 meters.
