Sons of 44 sires were selected for the licensing of the Oldenburg International (OS) Show Jumping Breeding Association. A total of 55 young stallions will compete for a positive licensing decision at the Oldenburg Stallion Days. They trace their lineage back to eleven sires and come from seven breeding regions. A statistical analysis.

With four offspring, Ermitage Kalone is the stallion sending the most candidates to the Oldenburg International (OS) Show Jumping Breeders’ Association’s licensing inspection in Vechta. The chestnut, whose World Championship appearance was prevented by an injury shortly before the World Championships in Aachen, has four sons in the licensing pool. He traces his lineage back to the line founder Cor de la Bryère (who, incidentally, was nearly castrated as a young stallion in France— read the full story here).

The Cor de la Bryère line is widely branched. Fifteen stallions descended from the French sire have sired at least one son who will be presented in the auction hall of the Oldenburg Horse Center at the end of November. It is striking how strongly the Caletto branch is represented in the licensing lot, particularly through his son Cambridge. This Holsteiner, a son of Caletto-Marlon xx, is represented by Ermitage Kalone as well as Catoki (1), Capital One (1), Cador (1), and in the paternal line of Chacco-Blue, who is represented by a direct son and grandsons through Chaccothage Blue PS (2) and Tartufo de Muze (1).

For the Corrado line, two sons of Comme il faut NRW and two sons of Eldorado van de Zeshoek will each compete.

Take note: Diamant de Semilly!

The roots of the stallion with the second-highest number of offspring in the licensing group—eight in total—also extend to France. Diamant de Semilly is represented primarily through Diarado (1) and his sons Diaron (2) and Diablue PS (2).

Next in the ranking is Nimmerdor with six offspring, including two by Toucento, a son of Toulon, and Almé with five. Among them is also a son of Richard Vogel’s United Touch S. The veteran champions Darco and Capitol are represented, each with four stallions traceable to them through the male line. In addition, offspring of Furioso II (2), Argentinus, Ladykiller xx, Mr. Blue, and Stakkato are expected in Vechta.

Belgian Olympic rider Dirk Demeersman will be serving on the selection committee for the first time. Together with his colleagues, he will be evaluating stallions from seven breeding regions. The OS Association is presenting 27 stallions, followed by the Belgian BWP (10), Holstein (6), the Dutch KWPN (5), Westphalia (4), Hanover (2), and Austria (1).
