Boekelo: British Celebrity Clone Leads After First Half of Dressage

Photo: Ashley Claus Chilli Morning IV—the “IV” in his name indicating he is the fourth clone of William Fox-Pitt’s Brandenburg military stallion and Badminton winner Chilli Morning—is in the lead after the first half of the dressage competition in Boekelo. Gemma Stevens scored 25.4 penalty points. One judge placed her in first place, while another ranked her second. This put the British rider ahead of Brazilian Marcio Cavalho Jorge riding Castle Howard Casanova (26.0), who had long held the lead.
With 27.1 penalty points, Nadine Marzahl and the experienced Hanoverian mare Victoria by Valentino finished the dressage in third place. Brandon Schäfer Gehrau is in ninth place after the first half of the dressage with another Hanoverian chestnut mare, Very Special by Viscount.
Today, the team riders will take to the arena in Boekelo
. The rest of the field will enter the arena on Friday starting at 9:07 a.m. Then it will be Antonia Baumgart’s turn with Ris de Talm. Next up are Ingrid Klimke and Kallista (9:14 a.m.), followed by Pauline Knorr and Aevolet (10:32 a.m.), Christoph Wahler and Gainsbourg de Bedon (11:27 a.m.), Julia Krajewski with Ero de Cantraie (1:42 p.m.), and Arne Bergendahl and Bronco—the second Road2LA horse alongside Very Special in the German squad—will conclude the German dressage rides at 2:59 p.m.
Pauline Knorr, Julia Krajewski, Arne Bergendahl, and Christoph Wahler will compete for the team.
