Andrina Suter Loses Her Grand Prix Horse, Del Curto

Even as a young horse, the now 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding Del Curto by Dimaggio-Wolkentanz II (breeder: Hendrik Moss) came into the care of Swiss dressage rider Andrina Suter. At ages three and four, he was trained alternately by Andrea Winkeler and Shereena Satzer. Starting at age five, Andrina Suter began competing with him.

A Moment of Glory at the Burg-Pokal

It was former German youth coach Oliver Oelrich—who became the Swiss national coach after the DOKR terminated his contract— who convinced Andrina Suter to enter her two young horses, Briatore NRW and Del Curto, in the Burg-Pokal in Nuremberg. It was Suter’s first time competing in this series, and she says she wouldn’t have dared to do it if Oelrich hadn’t convinced her.

Not only did she qualify for the finals, but she also took first and second place there. Seven-year-old Briatore NRW won, and Del Curto came in second. And Andrina Suter was awarded the Style Prize for the most harmonious performance.

at the Grand Prix level

. Following her success at the Burg Cup, Andrina Suter continued to train both horses up to the Grand Prix level. However, Briatore NRW competed in his final tournament in 2024. At that time, he won the Intermédiaire II class at the Swiss Championships with a score of 72.110 percent. He has not yet competed in a “full-fledged” Grand Prix.

Del Curto’s list of placings is much longer. He is, after all, two years older than Briatore and competed in his first S***-level competitions as early as the season following the Burg Cup, finishing in the top three every time he competed. In 2024, Suter then ventured into their first international competitions with him. The pair achieved their best results at their most recent tournaments. At the Grand Prix in Dielsdorf during the Swiss Championships, he came close to the 70 percent mark in the Grand Prix for the first time with a score of 69.957 percent. Their most recent competition was the CDI3* in Troisdorf, where they scored 68.217 percent.

End of the partnership

Del Curto was apparently injured during the 2026 season. He did not compete in any tournaments, and Andrina Suter wrote on her Instagram page that they had been “building up” and that she felt they were “on the right track—back to the sport.”

But at least we won’t be seeing the two of them together in the arena anymore. In the same post, Suter also mentions that the gelding is no longer with her:

She doesn’t say who this new rider is.
