Nicole Casper and Maximilian Weishaupt Take Sunday’s Win at the Chiemsee Horse Festival

Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de The final highlight on the arena at Gut Ising during the 2026 Chiemsee Horse Festival was the Grand Prix Special, held early this afternoon following yesterday’s Grand Prix Freestyle under floodlights—though this event was ridden in the indoor arena. The victory went to Nicole Casper on her ten-year-old rising star, Birkhof’s Zabalou.
Zabalou is a son of Zalando out of the Fatima by Sandro Hit-Classiker, bred by UG Meder. If that sounds familiar—this mare also produced, among others, the stallions Lord Leopold and Topas. Both were trained by Casper up to Grand Prix level and later sold to Victoria Max-Theurer in Austria. Topas went on to become a championship horse. Zabalou is well on his way. Casper has been riding the gelding at the S*** level since last year. At Gut Ising, he competed in the second Grand Prix Special of his career. His first appearance in Darmstadt earned a score of 66.699 percent. Today’s performance already scored 71.438 percent.
The two were the only pair to score over 70 percent. Second place went to Spain’s Ruben Mengual Reig, riding Bartlgut’s Quadrofilius (69.575), ahead of host Silvia Gugler on her 11-year-old DSP gelding Vulkano by Van Vivaldi I (68.889).
Weishaupt Rocks the Ring
While dressage was taking place in the arena, the Grand Prix was held on the show jumping course. A total of 13 pairs made it to the jump-off, but only four remained clear of penalties on their second attempt. Maximilian Weishaupt, riding the 10-year-old Cornet Obolensky daughter Cosmo von Imhoff, not only scored zero faults but was also the fastest of them all. Her name is no coincidence—she is still owned by her breeder, Angela Imhoff. Denis Nielsen rode the mare until the end of 2025; Maximilian Weishaupt has been riding her since the beginning of the year. Today’s victory marked their first international win together.
With a time of 35.90 seconds, they finished ahead of Ireland’s Thomas O’Brien on the DSP gray Sainte Vidal by Stolzenberg (36.47). Third place went to Hendrik Mader on the Holsteiner gelding Cranach by Cascadello (37.86).
