Pedro Mansur Wins European Children's Championship in Hagen with a Perfect Score; Bronze for Mila Osing

No one is as happy for his father—the Brazilian show jumper Yuri Mansur in the lemon-yellow jacket—as Pedro Mansur. Today, his dad once again had reason to jump for joy for his son. Thirteen-year-old Pedro rides for the Netherlands, where the family lives. He already won a silver medal at the European Championships with the team last year, and did so again this year. But an individual medal has eluded him so far. In Hagen, however, he and his Selle Français gelding Chacco Rouge—who is only nine years old—proved to be absolutely unbeatable. After winning the speed class, they were the ones who moved on to the next stage of the competition with a perfect score of zero penalty points. They didn’t add a single penalty point to that zero. That’s what you call a clean sweep!

However, the pairs that placed behind them also demonstrated remarkable composure. Riders in places one through eight all carried their results from the speed class all the way to the finish. In second place was Tabby Morgan-Evans riding Catoki (2.26), a son of Kannan, followed by Mila Osing, who thus brought home bronze in both the individual and team classifications at her first championship. Her partner in this competition was her Westphalian gelding Capitaine by Colincor (3.10).

Luisa Charlotte Brooks and her Comme il faut daughter Cordijana once again put in a confident and flawless performance today. But that one knockdown in the first round of the Nations Cup proved costly against such strong competition, resulting in a ninth-place finish.

The third German pair among the finalists, Joelle Sprehe and Starlinda, had one knockdown in the first round of today’s individual final—just as they did in the Nations Cup—but then completed the second round without any knockdowns, finishing in 14th place.
