Photo: Bauernschmitt A true Marbacher won the championship for five-year-old eventing horses at the Trakehner National Tournament: The Trakehner champion Lago die Lei is descended from the Anglo-Arabian Nathan de la Tour. His dam, a half-blood mare by Cavallieri xx, comes from a family that has long been bred at the main stud farm in the Swabian Alb.
Highest daily rating for Lago di Lei
The A** test for five-year-olds was doubly interesting—both as a championship and as one of the rare opportunities for stallions to earn points toward the new HLP system. Lago di Lei, ridden by Sven Lux, scored a 9.0—the highest of the day for a Trakehner in the open class. The stallion is being trained at Stall Jung.
Lux himself remains matter-of-fact: “Lago di Lei moves well, jumps very well, and is exceptionally easy to ride. Working with him is simply a joy.” With this victory, Lux repeated his success from the previous year. In 2025, his champion was Berlioz, also a licensed stallion—who has since qualified for the World Championships for Young Eventing Horses in France this October.
Familiar Faces in Class L
The L** class was divided into three categories—Championship, National Championship Qualifier, and HLP Sport Test—and was won by the 2024 champions: Andreas Ostholt riding the now seven-year-old Fly High by Asagao xx. Among the six-year-olds, Glockentanz by Hirtentanz came out on top—presented in person by breeder and owner Jennifer Bergmann-Krüger from Brandenburg. Riden by her, bred by her, and guided to the title by her: a special championship moment.
Class E for the “Busch Babies”
The host had already secured the first title as a precaution. Dynamic Star, presented by Annika Schnüpke, claimed victory as the best four-year-old in the opening Class E championship. The gelding was born at Andrea Korte’s farm in Telgte. His sire is Tecumseh, and his dam is a Siam xx mare.
Four days, twelve championships
The cross-country day was just the start. Through Sunday, Münster-Handorf will host eleven more Trakehner Championships, as well as over 40 competitions in dressage, show jumping, and cross-country—accompanied by the traditional supporting program.
The Elite Foal Auction will take place on Saturday evening in a hybrid format. There will be 25 selected foals. The collection can be viewed online, and live presentations will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the show jumping arena and on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the stable tent.
