The pair competed for Germany on multiple occasions in Nations Cups and, among other achievements, won the Badenia—the CSI4* Grand Prix of Mannheim—in 2021. They also placed in World Cup show jumping events on multiple occasions. Chelsea made her final competitive appearance in 2021 at the Tournament of Champions in Münster. She has now become a mother. In May, Chelsea gave birth to a filly by Darry Lou. Her name is Daisy.
Michael Jung on Instagram: “Chelsea is such a great mom, and the little one takes after her a lot.” I suppose there are worse things you could say about a foal.
About Chelsea
Chelsea is an 18-year-old Westphalian mare bred by Bernhard Eink-Stodtmann and jointly owned by the Jung family and Mr. and Mrs. Fischer. Her sire, Check In by Cordalmé Z-Lord Pezi, competed with New Zealander Samantha McIntosh at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, among other events. Her dam, Argentina E by Argent-Cordes Boy, produced a total of ten foals, including other S-level horses, with Chelsea being her star performer.
About Darry Lou
Daisy’s sire, Darry Lou, is a KWPN stallion and is now also 18 years old. As a competitor, he enjoyed great success primarily with Beezie Madsen (USA), winning, among other things, the 2019 Spruce Meadows Grand Prix. Shortly after this victory, he was acquired by Evergate Stables, owned by Jennifer Gates and her husband Nayel Nassar. Over the next few years, the couple took turns riding the stallion. Later, Harrie Smolders took him over and enjoyed several more notable successes with him. In 2024, Darry Lou retired from competition and went to Zangersheide Stud to serve as a breeding stallion.
With Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve-Nabab de Reve-Burggraaf, Le Mexico, and Erdball xx, Darry Lou’s pedigree features one top sire after another. The dam, Venus, competed in S-level show jumping herself, while the granddam, Burggravin, competed at the 1.60-meter level with breeder Roelof Bril. This bloodline also produced, for example, F One USA.
Darry Lou’s oldest offspring were born in 2015. There isn’t an international star among them yet. But then again, no dam like Chelsea has been involved yet either.
