Nations Cup nominations: Which show-jumpers will represent Germany in the course of the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen?
Richard Vogel and United Touch S, European Champion 2025, will compete in the Nations Cup in La Baule. Photo: Sportfotos-lafrentz.de Who will represent Germany in show jumping at the World Championships in Aachen in August 2026 will be decided within the next six weeks. There are two deadlines to consider. The first is July 6th. A longlist must be drawn up by this date. After consultation with the Show Jumping Committee, national coach Otto Becker can nominate 15 rider/horse combinations for the show jumping competition at this time.
Definitive entries of the show-jumpers for the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen: July 27th
This longlist will then become a shortlist and on July 27th at 11.59 p.m., the day of the so-called Definite Entries, i.e. the final entries, the nominations should be made. On this Monday, the riders and horse combinations that are to compete at the World Championships in Aachen have to be named: five pairs from the longlist, who will represent Germany at the home World Show Jumping Championships. Should any of these five not be able to make the cut, then replacements can be nominated from the longlist, i.e. the “entries”. These pairs must also be named on July 27 in the order of their possible succession.
In an interview, national coach Otto Becker had already said that he would take a close look at the performance of the horses and riders at the major tournaments. The main focus: the Nations Cups. And that is exactly what Becker has now named the pairs for.

Is the team from La Baule the German World Cup team?
The action continues a week later in La Baule, France. The team that Otto Becker will be taking a closer look at here can confidently be described as a kind of “core team”. With Richard Vogel/United Touch, S and Sophie Hinners/Iron Dames Singlair, the winner and the third-placed rider in the Grand Prix of Aachen are part of this team.
The two will be joined by Daniel Deuer with Otello de Guldenboom, the 2026 World Cup runner-up. Number four in the team is André Thieme with DSP Chakaria, winner of the Grand Prix of Hamburg, sixth in the Grand Prix of Aachen and recently reinstated in the Olympic squad. Stefan Engbers with Baju NRW is fifth in the team.
Otto Becker’s path to the World Championships and his priorities can be heard in the podcast Tell me about the horse. In a separate episode, the national coach talks about his work and his philosophy as a trainer.
