Trakehner Verband and Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch want to hold a joint foal auction at Warendorf State Stud in August

The Westphalian Studbook and the Trakehner Verband are organizing a joint foal auction at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf on 26 August. The Trakehners, whose namesake main stud was founded in East Prussia in 1732, will therefore go to the Warendorf State Stud, which was established in 1826. 200 years later, there is now a joint auction.
Longstanding cooperation between Trakehners and Westphalians
The cooperation comes as no surprise. It is true that most German horse breeding associations now operate nationwide or even across German borders. But the Federal Trakehner Breeding Association has long been looking for a centrally accessible location for its breeders for the spring licensing. And they found it: the facilities of the Westphalian Studbook in Münster-Handorf.
The Trakehner Bundesturnier has also been held on the site in summer for several years. The joint auction project is now a further step. The timing, at the start of the Bundeschampionat, is cleverly chosen. The historic riding hall of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud is easy to reach and was already the venue for a foal auction last year.
