Denmark wins EEF Nations' Cup in Martofte, Germany beaten
Martofte: Nations Cup home win for Denmark, Hannes Ahlmann Germany’s only zero
Andreas Schou and Darc de Lux were the final pair to secure victory for the Danish team at their home game in Martofte in 2025. Photo: Facebook/EEF With the two most experienced pairs at the beginning and at the end, the Danish team showed tactical skill and then they also had the necessary bit of luck in the EEF Nations Cup in Martofte (CSIO3*). Zascha Nygaard made the start and brought Cornet’s Esmeray PS to the finish twice without faults. Andreas Schou rounded off the competition on championship horse Darc de Lux and also closed the bag with two clear rounds. Laura Baaring Kjaergaard and Guppie VDL delivered the third clear round in the first round. Only Sören Moeller Rohde and Evolution Ask dropped a pole. In the second round it was the other way round, except that Moeller Rohde still had a time fault to count. But that was as far as it went.
The Swedes were left behind with four faults in the line-up of Jens Fredricson/Diarado’s Rose Elith (4/0), Carl-Walter For on Eka First Navy Jack (0/4), Jonna Ekberg with Bjufors Chacco (0/0) and Marcus Westergren in the saddle on Airco de L’Esprit Z (4/0).
Third place went to Belgium with nine penalties. Dirk Demeersman had a pitch-black day on Cote d’Or Z with 23 and 22 faults. Robin van Thillo on My Jewel’s Magic Touch (0/4), Frederic Vernaet with Quatre Mai-L (0/4) and Roy van Beek on Charleston-H (1/0) were the team’s top performers.
Experience gained
The performance in Denmark did not go as hoped for the winning nation from Mannheim. In the end, the German team finished eighth out of eleven. Hannes Ahlmann and Cimarosa produced the only clear round in round one. The rest of the still very young team from Schleswig-Holstein gained valuable experience: Mathies Rüder on Carlesta (4/17), Tomma Thiesen with Django Riff (8/4) and Tjade Carstensen on Lintero (9/8).
