After Katrin Eckermann virtually outclassed the competition in round two of the Global Champions League stage yesterday, today it was up to Sophie Hinners to keep the Iron Dames flags flying high in Miami.

A 1.50 meter jumping competition with jump-off was the most important decision of the day today on the beach in Miami before the Global Champions Tour stage tomorrow. Katrin Eckermann and Sophie Hinners are ready, as we saw yesterday and today.

13 pairs had reached the jump-off, twelve competed. Zascha Nygaard decided not to compete with the Kannan son Drako de Maugre, who was ridden by Patrick Stühlmeyer for Stall Schockemöhle until the beginning of last year. Stühlmeyer owed the 13-year-old Selle Francais stallion his first German Championship title in 2024, among other things. Stühlmeyer rode Drako de Maugre at shows until February and then handed over the reins to US rider Paris Sellon, known among other things as Martin Fuchs’ ex-girlfriend, with whom she wanted to set up a horse trading business. She presented Drako de Maugre for the rest of the 2025 season. But at the beginning of this year, Danish rider Zascha Nygaard from the team of Schockemöhle employee Andreas Kreuzer sat in his saddle. Miami is the first five-star tournament.

The pricking

In the jump-off, US rider Olivia Sweetnam in the saddle on the eleven-year-old Billy Mexico son Eric made a good start: clear in 34.25 seconds. She was followed by Canada’s Erynn Ballard in the saddle on the 14-year-old Carambole daughter Her Game Ball. They came within a hundredth of a second of Sweetnam.

Pieter Devos and Panamarenka van de Blauwaert tried in vain to catch up with the two, zero faults 34.46 seconds. Brazil’s Eduardo Pereira de Menezes and the full brother of Daniel Deusser’s Killer Queen, Kontador VDM, showed that they could go faster. They crossed the finish line after 33.71 seconds.

Abdel Said and Zasou were lightning fast (32.26), but had one down. Now it was up to Sophie Hinners and Combella to try and beat the Brazilian duo’s time. They managed to do so quite easily: 33.16 seconds. A new lead and this time it lasted until the end.

Eduardo Pereira de Menezes and Kontador lined up behind Hinners, followed by Olivia Sweetnam and Erynn Ballard.

Katrin Eckermann had one knockdown with Chao Lee in the first round. Philipp Weishaupt and Chaquitos PS had two.
