German Show Jumping & Dressage Derby

Photo: Sportfotos-lafrentz.de The German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg Klein Flottbek is one of the most beautiful tournaments in the world and one of the richest in tradition. The course for show jumpers has remained essentially unchanged since its “invention” by Eduard Franz Pulvermann in 1920 and is still regarded as the most difficult show jumping competition in the world. Thousands of spectators make the pilgrimage to Hamburg year after year to experience it.
There will be no more horse changes in dressage this year, but the Grand Prix and Freestyle will decide the winner of the Blue Ribbon. The percentage points are added together here. There will be a CDI1*/3*/5* tour as well as another qualifier for the Louisdor Prize. Among others, the wide range on offer has persuaded two-time Olympic team champion and master trainer Dorothee Schneider to compete in Hamburg for the first time this year with her future hopeful Karlijn V. What she is looking forward to this weekend at least as much as her first appearance in the arena in Hamburg is experiencing her first show jumping derby live. She has otherwise only seen this on TV – and NDR and ZDF will be broadcasting it again this year.
