The most important jumping competition on day one of the Saut Hermès in Paris was decided between two French riders - and by a hair's breadth. Otherwise, Willem Greve won once again and the Germans presented themselves in top form.

Daniel Deußer and Bingo Ste Hermelle took an early lead with a clear round of 61.36 seconds in today’s 1.50 meter time trial at the Saut Hermès. It lasted for around a quarter of an hour. Then came Julien Epaillard and Easy Up de Grandry and showed that they could go much faster: 60.04 seconds. But in the end, even the World Cup winner found his champion in François Xavier Boudant on Brazyl du Mezel. The two managed to take two hundredths off Epaillard and his Jarnac son.

Boudant thus won ahead of Epaillard. In the end, Deußer had to let Yuri Mansur and his 18-year-old Evergreen Vitiki pass him. Third place for the Brazilian, fourth place for Deußer.

His stable colleague Kendra Claricia Brinkop had saddled the 14-year-old Diarado son Dawa de Greenbay Z here. They came out of the course under the glass dome of the Grand Palais with one down. The same applied to Philipp Weishaupt with his nine-year-old young hopeful by Emerald, Lady Concern du Rezidal.

Ehning and horses in top condition

Marcus Ehning and his horses also proved to be in good form on his international comeback. Priam du Roset jumped clear in this test, but was not placed. Flower Girl had been clear in the opening competition and finished eighth. The winner here was Willem Greve with Candy Luck, the mare with whom he had won the Grand Prix in Neumünster.

Christian Kukuk’s former Nations Cup partner Chageorge and his new rider Lara Trab were among those who placed. With a clear round, which was fast enough for tenth place, they demonstrated that they are already well on their way together.

Kendra Claricia Brinkop and the ten-year-old Action Breaker son Gatsby le Magnifique, who she took over from her colleague Emilie Conter at the beginning of the year, also placed zero, but no longer placed.

Philipp Weishaupt had no faults with Oreo D.R., just one time penalty. Daniel Deußer took it similarly easy at the start with his Nations Cup horse from Abu Dhabi, Pepita van’t Meulenhof – three time penalties.
