In Riesenbeck last weekend, everything was one size smaller than usual - riders, horses (ponies) and obstacles. Nevertheless, there was great sport at the national junior championships for pony show jumpers.

If you’re twelve years old, your friends ask you in the summer vacations if you want to go to the outdoor pool and you say no because you know your pony has had enough exercise but you haven’t ridden it yet, then you have the mindset to go far. If you then add talent to the mix, there’s really nothing standing in the way of a great career.

So you can expect to hear more from Carl Meyer zu Hartum. He is such a hard-working rider and proved that he also has the talent for a career in the saddle at the Federal Young Pony Show Jumping Championships in Riesenbeck at the weekend. There, the son of Schockemöhle managing director Florian Meyer zu Hartum competed with his pony mare Marry the Night as the only representative from Weser-Ems. With an 8.4 in the first and 8.5 in the second round (= 16.9), there was no way around the pair, who were already Weser-Ems pony show jumping champions last year. Now they have prevailed against their competitors from all over Germany.

Second place went to the Rhineland, to Mia Tappe on Dolly Jumper H with 8.4 and 7.5 (= 15.9). Third place went to Marlene Richter from Westphalia on Chris. They scored 15.6 points.
