Structural realignment of the FN

FN presents “Equestrian Sport Germany” initiative

The German Equestrian Federation (FN) presented its new "Equestrian Sport Germany" initiative to the public for the first time at spoga horse in Cologne. Both the logo and the central guiding principle were presented. The aim of the initiative is to bring equestrian sport in Germany closer together and make common values visible.

“Equestrian Sport Germany” is embedded in the ongoing structural realignment of the FN. The merger of the FN and the German Olympic Committee for Equestrian Sports (DOKR) has been in preparation since spring 2025. In future, top-level sport will be organized within the FN’s Competitive Sport/DOKR division, while the identity of the DOKR will be retained.

The initiative focuses on horse welfare, knowledge and fairness. “Our aim is to turn enthusiasm for horses into responsibility – for a partnership between horse and human and for fair sport,” explained FN Chairman of the Board Dr. Dennis Peiler.

The initiative was developed with the involvement of member and affiliated associations and is intended to appeal to all areas of equestrian sport – from leisure and competition riders to breeders and top-level sport. Existing programs such as “100 school horses plus” and “Fair goes first” are part of the content focus. The FN also qualifies around 1,000 trainers nationwide every year. “We stand for sport with horses – but always with responsibility. Anyone who identifies with our values will find a home under the umbrella of Equestrian Sport Germany. Everyone is important: people who breed horses, people who spend their free time with horses, competition riders – right up to Olympic champions,” said Peiler.
