Richard Vogel's top horse, United Touch S, has contracted a serious infection

In just a few days, the Stuttgart German Masters will begin—essentially the “home tournament” for Swabian rider Richard Vogel. It’s also the tournament where he won his first World Cup show jumping event in 2022 riding Superstar United Touch S. Now, four years later, Richard Vogel is number one in the world rankings, and United Touch S has played a major role in that. But this year, the Stuttgart crowd will likely have to do without the superstar. United Touch S has contracted an infection, as his rider reported on social media.

Richard Vogel did not reveal what kind of infection United Touch S is suffering from. On his Instagram page, he writes: “United is currently under veterinary care after developing an infection that requires ongoing treatment and close monitoring. He is receiving the best care, and we are working closely with our veterinary team to support his recovery in every way possible.”

Vogel has no doubt that the stallion will recover. It remains unclear how long it will take for him to make a full recovery. “At this stage, it is still too early to set a timeline for his recovery. United’s health and well-being are and will remain our top priority.”

An update on the stallion’s health will be provided as soon as there is any new information to report.
