Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Casino Grande is a 14-year-old OS stallion who, like his parents, was born at the Sosath farm. His sire, Casino Berlin—a son of Gerco Schröder’s team world champion Berlin out of Landora by Landadel—who is currently on a “business trip” to the Czech Republic to advance sport horse breeding there, is himself a product of the Sosath breeding and competition program. He carried Hendrik Sosath, among others, through the Aachen Soers competition. Casino Grande’s dam, Baccara by Contact Me, is the last foal of the elite mare Bold Fantasy by Landadel, who produced, among others, the champion stallion Stedinger by Sandro Hit. Numerous other licensed stallions and successful sport horses have also emerged from this line.
Career
Casino Grande himself is one of the flagship horses of both his dam’s line and his sire, Casino Berlin. This has been the case ever since his licensing in 2014, when he was named Second Reserve Champion. He passed his 30-day test the following year in Schlieckau with a final score of 8.37, including a score of 9.2 for jumping. Casino Grande was able to translate the promise shown here into success in competition.
In 2018, he qualified for the Bundeschampionat, where he made no jumping errors. Only a time penalty in the final prevented the six-year-old from placing higher. In 2019, at age seven, he made his mark in the advanced class and placed ninth in the small final at the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers. In the years that followed, Casino Grande racked up numerous additional national and international victories and placings. This year, for example, he won the Rastede Grand Prix and carried Hendrik Sosath to sixth place at the German Championships in Balve.
In 2023, Casino Grande was named Oldenburg Stallion of the Year. In 2025, he was named “Future Sire” by the Oldenburg Association, an honor awarded to younger stallions based on the age-appropriate successes of their offspring and on the FN breeding value estimation.
New Home in the U.S.
The Sosath stable has now announced that Casino Grande is moving. He is joining a family in Florida and will become the riding partner of their daughter. Hendrik Sosath watches his stallion leave with mixed feelings. “We had a wonderful time, and I can’t imagine a better future for Grande than being with a young rider at a 5* stable, with the best conditions and a forever home in the sun. His retirement on the ranch’s pastures is also assured.”
